MIECF is a government led conference event, supplemented by an accompanying exhibition on climate change, water, energy and sustainable development. The forum seeks to review the priorities of environmental protection and ecological balance in the light of sustainable economic development. In this context the 2008 MIECF has been established to bring you the latest ideas and information on technology advances as well as the opportunity to meet potential partners and commercial opportunities in this dynamic and vital area. |

| On behalf of the Macao Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China, it is my great pleasure to welcome you all to participate in the 2008 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum and Exhibition (2008 MIECF) on 23-25 April 2008 in Macao. The event is to be hosted by the Macao SAR Government, with the theme on “Water, Energy and Sustainable Development”. Aiming to support sustainable economic and social development in the region through promotion of green enterprises and to establish Macao as a bridge connecting China and other countries for technology exchange and co-operation in environmental protection, Macao strives to provide an ideal platform for dialogue on environmental issues among experts, governments, industries, financial institutions, NGOs and civil society organisations. With the concerns about climate change at our doorstep, environmental initiatives are highly relevant and call for our immediate actions, individually and collectively. Doing our part in the global drive for sustainable development, and with a high sense of shared responsibility, Macao SAR will take a proactive lead to promote “Thinking Green, Going Clean and Living Cool” in the 2008 MIECF. Macao, a city with rich historical and cultural legacy, invites your expertise and values your presence at the 2008 MIECF.
