Prof. Daniel M. Cheng

Ir Prof Daniel M. Cheng, MH, JP is the Managing Director of Dunwell Enviro-Tech (Holdings) Ltd, Chairman of Federation of Hong Kong Industries and Founding President of the Hong Kong Environmental Industries Association. Prof Cheng serves in many associations and Government Committees, he plays an advisory role for environmental protection policy & development in Hong Kong for over 15 years.   

Prof Cheng is a Fellow of Hong Kong Institute of Engineers and also Registered Professional Engineer.  Prof Cheng is currently Board member of Business Environment Council, Deputy Chairman of HK Green Strategy Alliance Member.   For HKSAR Government, he is also serving as Council Member of Hong Kong Trade Development Council, member of the Energy Advisory Committee, Advisory Committee on Recycling Fund,  Trade and Industry Advisory Board, Advisory Committee on Water Resources and Quality of Water Supplies, Economic Development Commission (Working Group on Manufacturing Industries, Innovative Technology, and Cultural and Creative Industries).   Prof Cheng was the member of Hong Kong Productivity Council (2009–2015) and Vocational Training Council (2011–2015), he was also the Past Chairman of Hong Kong Waste Management Association.

Prof Cheng is pioneer in the field of environmental since 1993, he led Dunwell to develop advanced technologies and received many local and overseas awards in the past years.  In Feb 2014, Ir Cheng was inducted into the “Hall of Fame” by the California Polytechnic University-Pomona.  He also received the Justice of the Peace (JP) Honour in 2011 and the Medal of Honour in 2007 from HKSAR Government. He was selected as winner of Hong Kong Ten Outstanding Industrial Engineers Award in 1999, Innovative Entrepreneur of 1996, The Young Industrialist Awards of Hong Kong 1995.  In July 2015, Hong Kong Polytechnic University appointed him as Professor of Practice (Management).  The University of Hong Kong also appointed Prof Cheng as Honorary Professor in Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering in March 2016 to recognize his continue academic contribution.
