Hosted by the Macao SAR Government, and co-ordinated by the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) and the Environmental Protection Bureau (DSPA), the 2024 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition (2024MIECF) will be held from 28 to 30 March 2024, under the theme of “Reaching the Dual Carbon Goals through Green Transformation”. The last day of the 2024MIECF is designated as Green Public Day (30 March), which will provide the public with free access to the latest information and technologies on environmental protection, so as to disseminate environmental knowledge and advocate for a green future.

A series of activities in place to promote “green and low-carbon” concepts

To work towards the country’s “dual carbon” goals and encourage the public to actively engage in various environmental protection and carbon reduction efforts, this year the Green Showcase will continue to offer free admission for the public on Green Public Day, where they can learn about environmental products and cutting-edge environmental information from various industries at home and abroad and develop green and innovative thinking.

A series of educational activities on environmental protection will be arranged at the venue, including stage games, booth games, environmental workshops, booth for the public to apply as member of “Eco Fun” and a lucky draw. In addition, eco-friendly souvenirs will be available on-site and the mascots of the DSPA will be present to interact with the public to promote the concept of a green and low-carbon lifestyle.

To promote green commuting, four electric shuttle bus routes will be available free of charge between Central Macao, Northern Macao, Taipa and the MIECF venue on Green Public Day to encourage the public to travel green with their families and friends, facilitating the realisation of carbon reduction goals.

Technical visits providing opportunities for environmental exchange

To strengthen the exchange on environmental protection, technical visits will be arranged on the morning of 30 March (Saturday), where participants will visit the Macao Electronic and Electrical Equipment Recycling Treatment Facility and the Cotai Ecological Zones. It will offer them a chance to experience Macao’s environmentally friendly facilities and efforts, and to learn more about the most advanced environmental technologies.
