Experts and Scholars Gather at 2021MIECF to Explore Clean Energy

The 2021 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition (2021MIECF) is scheduled for 5 to 7 August 2021, under the theme “Towards a Green and Low Carbon New Era”. The Green Forum held during the event includes four sessions, with a number of prominent professionals in the environmental sector invited to discuss and exchange views on clean energy and other frontier issues of green, low-carbon and sustainable development.

On the afternoon of the second day (6 August), Session 4 of the Green Forum under the theme “Clean Energy, Clean Air: an Investment for the Future” will be held. Professor Hao Jiming at the School of Environment, Tsinghua University, Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Mr Gui Huaqiao, Deputy Director of the Centre of Environmental Optics, Anhui Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics, Hefei Institutes of Physical Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences; Mr Zhu Haojun, Deputy Director of the Institute of Energy Strategy and Policy, Energy Development Research Institute, China Southern Power Grid; Mr. Edmond Etchri, Director of the Generation Department, Companhia de Electricidade de Macau – CEM, S.A. (Macao); and many other influential experts and scholars are invited as guest speakers to share their insights into and suggestions on how to facilitate the mainstreaming and application of clean energy.

Professor Hao Jiming will deliver a speech on “Promoting a green transition towards low-carbon transport systems to synchronise the mitigation of air pollutants and greenhouse gases”, discussing and sharing his opinions with online and offline participants on the significance of building clean and low-carbon transport systems to the development of ecological civilisation in the Greater Bay Area. With the promotion of new energy vehicles (NEVs) as a typical case, Professor Hao will analyse the synergistic benefits of air quality improvement, greenhouse gas emission reduction and health betterment brought by widespread promotion of NEVs in the future. He will also introduce the policy outlook of pollution governance in international Bay Area cities, and propose development countermeasures integrating energy structure transformation, transport structure adjustment and intelligent control support. The conference will be live streamed, and certificates of attendance will be issued to both online and offline participants.

The 2021MIECF is hosted by the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region and co-organised by the governments of the Pan-Pearl River Delta Region. The special supporting organisations include the National Development and Reform Commission of the People’s Republic of China, the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People’s Republic of China, and the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of the People’s Republic of China. The event is to be held at The Venetian Macao.
