Mr. Leong Kun Fong

Leong Kun Fong ,Ecological restoration and greening consultant of University of Macau (Title in English TBC)

 Leong Kun Fong has been working on ecological restoration since 1980, and in 2009, he was appointed to the Administration Committee, Civil and Municipal Affairs Bureau (IACM, currently IAM) , mainly responsible for Macao’s urban greening and ecological conservation. The “hole digging method” he invented has helped solve the problem of periodic death occurring in mountainous and forested areas in dry seasons. Using the method of “water-logged composting in holes” , he has restored the Wetland in Avenida da Praia, Taipa , making it salt-resistant. In 2013, the Wetland was selected as one of the “Top Ten Charming Wetlands in China” . Leong has been granted two national-level patents of invention, one for “a movable device for arbor planting in coastal saline-alkali sandy soil” and the other for “a method of mangrove adult plant transplantation” . Achievements scored under the “coastal emerald mangrove conservation” program have been highly valued by the State Oceanic Administration . Leong also invented the “tree made of iron” for the street ambience to make more space for urban greening.

Currently, he serves as an advisor on ecological restoration and greening for Macao’s college students.
