Mr. Tan Xiao is a Principal Senior Engineer whose work focuses on solid waste management policy and resource utilisation technologies. From 2022 to 2024, he was seconded to serve as the Deputy Director of the Division of Solid Waste of the Department of Ecology and Environment of Guangdong Province, where he was responsible for promoting the province‑wide “Zero Waste City” and “Zero Waste Bay Area” initiatives. He has led eight national‑level research projects, including the “Solid Waste Recycling”, a key special project under the National Key R&D Programme, entitled “Research on Multidimensional Evaluation of Waste Lead Paste Recycling Technology and Pollution Control Technology System”, as well as ten provincial and ministerial‑level research projects. In recent years, he has published more than forty academic papers in leading domestic and international journals, and has been granted ten domestic invention patents and one international invention patent. He is the author of the monograph “Weixian Feiwu Jianbie” (Hazardous Waste Identification and Selected Case Studies), and has received five national and provincial awards for Environmental Protection Science and Technology Invention and Environment Technology Progress.
