Mr. José Pérez García

Honorary President of ECOECHE, President of Ecopilas


Mr. José Pérez García was appointed Secretary-General of Asimelec, one of the leading associations in the electronics and battery sectors in Spain, in 1987, a position he held until 2012.


During this period Mr. Pérez García created the first electronic waste and battery management systems through the establishment of the Ecopilas, Ecoasimelec, and Ecofimatica Foundations.


In 2012, he became CEO of Recyclia, a new entity that assumed the management of the former foundations Ecopilas, Ecoasimelec, and Ecofimatica, and later Recyenvases, leading them until 1 January 2025. 


Mr. Pérez García currently serves on the Board of Directors of Recyclia. Furthermore, since its creation in 2000, he has been President of Ecopilas. 


He has been an advisor to ECOECHE, the main system of Chinese companies in Spain, for over a year, and was recently appointed Honorary President.


From 1973 to 1978, Mr. Pérez García studied Law at the Complutense University of Madrid. From 1983 to 1987, he was a lawyer at the Spanish Export Credit Insurance Company (CESCE). 


In 2016, he received his Doctorate in Law, summa cum laude, from University of Madrid. Mr. Pérez García was a Professor of Public International Law at the Faculty of Law where he directed several works on International Environmental Law.
