Mr. Zhang Mingyang

Director of the Solid Waste Pollution Prevention and Control Technologies Laboratory, South China Institute of Environmental Sciences, Ministry of Ecology and Environment, People’s Republic of China


Mr. Zhang Mingyang is a Senior Engineer in the South China Institute of Environmental Sciences, Ministry of Ecology and Environment. He is also a member of the technical support expert group for both the national and Guangdong Provincial "Zero Waste City" initiative. His work focuses on the research and development of technologies and equipment for in-situ deep reduction and resource utilisation of organic biochemical sludge. He holds 40 authorised invention patents in solid waste pollution prevention, and has been awarded two provincial/ministerial first prizes. He had taken a leading role in formulating “the Comprehensive ‘Zero Waste City’ Construction Plan for Guangdong Province”, as well as in the implementation plans for cities including Dongguan, Zhongshan, and Huizhou. He had explored and established demonstration models such as "Zero Waste Industrial Chains," "Zero Waste Industrial Zones," and "Zero Waste Factories" and provided technical support to municipalities in advancing their zero waste development.
