Mr. He Kebin

Professor of the School of Environment, and Dean of the Institute for Carbon Neutrality at Tsinghua University, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering


He Kebin is a Professor of the School of Environment and Dean of the Institute for Carbon Neutrality at Tsinghua University, and an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. He serves as Deputy Director of China’s National Committee of Experts on Ecology and Environment, Vice Chairman of the Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences, and Vice President of the China Association of Environmental Protection Industry. He has long been devoted to the study of complex air pollution, especially PM2.5. He has carried out in‑depth research on the identification of atmospheric particulate matter and complex pollution, the emission characteristics of complex sources and the co‑ordinated control of air pollutants and greenhouse gases. In the fields of zero-waste city development and solid waste management, he submitted a proposal in 2017 titled “Promoting the Resource Recovery of Solid Waste and Building a ‘Zero-waste Society’ through Pilot ‘Zero-waste Cities’”, together with several academicians from the Chinese Academy of Engineering. This proposal directly catalysed the launch and implementation of the “Zero-waste City” Pilot Program nationwide.
