The 2026 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition (hereinafter referred to as the “2026MIECF”) will be held from 26 to 28 March 2026. In line with the theme “Low-carbon, Zero Waste Cities: Embarking on a Global Collaboration”, this year’s event will feature four themed “Green Forum” sessions, bringing together environmental experts, scholars and industry leaders from home and abroad to share and discuss practical experience in green and low‑carbon development and prospects for diversified co‑operation.

To strengthen international green exchange and co‑operation, the 2026MIECF, in collaboration with the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of the People’s Republic of China and the “Belt and Road Initiative” International Green Development Coalition (hereinafter referred to as the BRIGC), will organise Session 2 of the “Green Forum” under the theme “Building an Ecological Civilisation: Regional Cooperation on the Green Silk Road”. The session will take place on the morning of the second day of the event (27 March) at the Sicily Meeting Room of The Venetian Macao. This session focuses on the “Belt and Road Initiative”, sharing experiences and findings in areas such as carbon reduction, pollution control, greening, and growth. It will promote exchanges and co-operation, foster mutual learning of ideas and consensus-building, and explore new models of sustainable development. Through equal interaction and joint efforts, the session is committed to collaboratively promoting ecological civilisation and building a shared green future for humanity.

The aforementioned session will invite experts and scholars from multiple countries and regions to engage in in‑depth dialogue on ecological civilisation, including Guo Yijun, Director General of the Department of Solid Wastes and Chemicals of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, People’s Republic of China; Zhang Jianyu, Deputy Secretary General and Chief Development Officer of BRIGC, and Executive Director of the BRI Green Development Institute; Jorge Arbache, Professor of Economics at the University of Brasilia and Senior Fellow of the Climate and Society Institute (iCS); José Pérez García, Honorary President of ECOECHE and President of Ecopilas; and Fabby Tumiwa, Chief Executive Officer of the Institute for Essential Services Reform (IESR). The session will be moderated by Kou Kun Pang, Associate Professor of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Macau.

The speakers will address topics including “Progress and Achievements of China’s Zero Waste City Construction”, “In the New Historical Era Post-COP30: Seizing New Trends, New Landscapes, and New Opportunities in Global Green Investment”, “Green Silk Road in Action: Brazil-China Powershoring for Decarbonisation, Industrial Upgrading and Sustainable Growth”, “The Management of Electrical, Electronic and Battery Waste in Spain and Europe as a Model of Success: Cooperation with Chinese Companies”, and “Toward a Shared Prosperity: Southeast Asia - China Green Development Cooperation”. Through these presentations, the session will explore diverse models for green regional co‑operation and promote long‑term progress in sustainable development.

Simultaneous interpretation will be provided on the spot to facilitate communication and collaboration on international environmental information. In addition, this year’s MIECF will continue to seek professional accreditation for designated forums and issue certificates of attendance to participants in designated sessions, further strengthening the role of the MIECF as a professional platform for knowledge sharing.
